Robust Spider Assembly

To avoid flexure of the carbon fiber tube, the robust spider attaches to a heavy-duty aluminum front end ring. The secondary mirror cell/baffle tube is assembled with the mirror heater in place, ready for thermal control electronics.

The entire front end of the astrograph (photo left) can be easily removed from the tube as a single assembly making secondary mirror accessibility and cleaning easy.
