Heavy-duty mirror cell/backplate

The primary mirror is precisely aligned with the corrector lenses and bonded in the six-point flotation cell/backplate, optimized to support the mirror without imparting stress. This extra care and attention in assembly means you have less trouble collimating the telescope in the field.

The heavy-duty 38mm (1.5") thick light weighted backplate is specifically designed to be able to support heavy accessories such as large format CCD cameras and filter wheels.

With the optional electronics packaged installed, the primary mirror cell is assembled with five fans and a mirror heater in place, ready for thermal control electronics. The fans and electronics can be readily disassembled from the mirror cell for easy cleaning of the primary mirror.
